Scott J. McGown

Born on April 15th, 1969 to John and Diane (Swansen) McGown of Yonkers, he was raised in Yonkers and graduated from Saunders H.S.

Scott worked for the City of Yonkers Water Department and Sanitation, along with Recycling and Private Carting.

Scott was a lifetime member of the Lakers and a member and former officer of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Myles Scully Division #1. He had the honor of being an aid at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in March 2015. Scott was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.

He is survived by his mother Diane McGown of Yonkers, his sister Nancy Herran of Yonkers, and Brother-in-law Angel Herran of Yonkers. He was a proud uncle to Amanda, Samantha, Cassandra, and Alexandra; and a proud great-uncle to Amanda and Ermal’s son Engjell. He was also a proud “Uncle” to Ermal Lajqi and Ray O’Gorman.

Scott is also survived by his uncle Robert Swansen and wife Aunt Le Swansen of Oroville, CA, and their two children; Nicole; along with her two sons and CJ.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Maria Santiago and her husband Carlos Santiago of Yonkers and their children; Miranda, Carlos, and Ileana, along with Angel and Maria’s father Jose Luise Herran.

He is also survived by his Aunts Rosemary DiPaolo and husband Uncle Lenny DiPaolo of Putnam Valley and their children Keith and Kelly and Aunt Marybeth Vrabel and her husband Uncle Steve Vrabel of Mahopac and their son Stephen.

He is also survived by his close childhood friends, who were his extended family.

Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball F.H on Monday, October 17th, and Tuesday, October 18th from 4-8 PM. Mass for Scott McGown will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, October 19th at 9:30 AM. Private cremation will occur.
