John M. Souza of Yonkers died on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at age 68. Born on September 25, 1945 to Ernest and Catherine (Alexander) Souza in Hyannis, Mass.
He was a retired butcher for Pathmark in Westchester County. He also was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam. John is survived by his wife Donna (Lasko) Souza; his sisters Karen Giustino, Christine Barbagallo and Beatrix (Trixie) Souza, and his brother Luke. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins mother and father-in-law; brother and sister-in-law. He was known for this great love and compassion for animals, especially his three cats, two birds and his talking African Grey Parrot “Sharkey”. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be in Christ the King Church on Saturday, February 8th at 10:00 a.m. Interment Oakland Cemetery.
