John Carey

John (Jack) J. Carey, Jr. of Yonkers passed away on Sunday June 4, 2017 at age 77. He was born to John and Julia Sullivan Carey on December 1, 1939 in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. John married Helene (Lee) Estony on September 2, 1961 in St. Peters Church in Yonkers. He was a Lieutenant in the Yonkers Fire Department for 38 years retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Racquet Club, the Catholic Slovak Club, he enjoyed fishing and loved playing Billiards at Carmon Billiards Hall in Queens, NY. John was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers. Besides his wife Helene (Lee) he is survived by his 4 children Ellen Keane, Susan (Paul) Hessler, John (Francesca) Carey and Patricia (Robert) Hanney, also 7 grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Paul, Kelly, Nicole, Gianna, Kaitlin and Bobby Jr. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers you can make donations to a charity of your choice.
