Donna now joins her mother Betty Mae Dixon who predeceased her on June 28, 2008.
Donna Dixon was born in the Bronx, NY on July 2, 1963 to Betty Mae Dixon. Donna attended P.S. 96, in the Bronx, Enrico Fermi and Yonkers High School when the family moved to Yonkers in May 1976. Donna also attended beauty school at Yonkers Beauty School in Yonkers. Donna loved doing her hair in her signature braids. Donna began working at Costco in Yonkers, NY. in 1999, where she worked for twenty years until her passing. Donna loved to sing and dance her heart out! Donna was the true life of the party, even if it wasn’t a party, Donna turned it into a party! Donna had a passion for taking pictures to create memories that will have everlasting effects. Donna deemed herself the “paparazzi”, a title that she held true. Donna loved to express herself through writing poetry, and contributed her words at almost every event that she attended because she always wanted everyone to know exactly how she felt about them. Donna loved hard, and she loved deep. Everyone Donna considered a friend, she considered her family and loved everyone from the bottom of her heart.
Donna is survived by her sisters, Florence and Fonda Dixon. Her nieces, La Rhonda Jefferson, Nadia Irizarry and Inez Parrilla. Nephews, Marcus Parrilla and Theodore Richardson Jr. Great Nieces, Nia and Amaia Hall, and Saniyah and Alaia Jefferson. Great Nephews, Deron Thompson, Tramar Walker, Nicholas Holmes, Evan Jefferson and Shai Parrilla. She also leaves behind to mourn her soulmate, longtime partner and companion, Gary Proctor and her beloved cat Tiger. Goddaughter, LaTanya Hawkins, a host of cousins, and hundreds of friends, and her Costco Family #321 , whom she held dear and was her second family. Donna had many friends, too many to count, and held all of her friends close to her heart.
The Dixon Family appreciates everyone for their heartfelt condolences as we grieve our loss. We are going to miss her tremendously. We have lost an irreplaceable part of our lives, the true light and love of our family.
Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday March 23rd 4-8pm. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 7pm. Final disposition will be private. In lieu of flowers, plants may be sent or donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
