He was born on June 10, 1938 to Dominick Moran and Ellen McCarthy Moran. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Sacred Heart High School. As a lifelong resident of Yonkers, he had many dear friends who became family. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and was an Aide to the Grand Marshal in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. He coached Sacred Heart Baseball for many years and was very involved in the North Yonkers Boys Club. He was a member of the 140 Club and an honorary member of the Wildcats, headed by his best friend BJ Harrington. Denis was employed by Con Edison for 36 years as a contract inspector and Shop Steward, in addition he started as a valet attendant at Yonkers Raceway and worked his way up to the position of Assistant General Manager, a career that expanded for 56 years. Denis retired from Yonkers Raceway in 2019.
Denis is predeceased by his parents, Dominick Moran & Ellen McCarthy, his brother Thomas, & his sister Catherine Garbowski.
Denis leaves behind his wife Peggy (Noschese) of 63 years, son Denis (Maggie), daughter Kerry (Ray), four grandchildren Denis, Michael, Jillian, Matthew, brother Jack (Kathy), Jimmy (Carmen) and many nieces and nephews.
He will always be remembered for the love he had for his family. In his position, he employed many of the North Yonkers friends and family working at Yonkers Raceway, the Flea Market, the Westchester County Fair and the Buick Classic at Westchester Country Club.
Denis enjoyed his summers at the Jersey Shore & Key West with his family and friends. Anyone who knew Denis knew he was a passionate fan of the Yankees and Notre Dame and was sometimes known to belt out a tune at family events. Denis lived his life to the fullest & traveled the world with the best of friends.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
