JANUARY 10, 1944 - JANUARY 26, 2021
FALMOUTH- Virginia Ann Lunt, 77, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2021.
Ginny was born in Chelsea Massachusetts to Ralph D. and Lilian C. Morgan. As the daughter of a military family, she and her family moved often eventually settling in Falmouth, Maine. She attended Pine Grove Elementary School, and then while in the fifth grade at the Rolf B. Motz School, she was in the same classroom as her future husband, William M. Lunt III. As a freshman at Falmouth High School, Ginny convinced her friend Carol to persuade Bill to ask her out on a date. The two were married on June 22, 1963. They would go on to have three children.
As a stay at home mom until the children were all of school age, Ginny enjoyed sewing and made many of her family’s clothes. For many years, Ginny followed her passion for sewing and design by working in retail, including the Fabric Store and eventually retiring from Cuddledown in 2018.
With her children grown and out of the house, Ginny proudly purchased her first new car and promptly informed Bill that they would be taking their first big vacation and driving to Florida. That would be the first of many road trips to visit friends and family. She also enjoyed exploring all that Northern New England has to offer.
After working all week, Ginny enjoyed her regular date nights with Bill at Ruby Tuesdays. Ginny’s preferred form of “therapy” was shopping.
Ginny loved hosting get togethers with family and friends. Birthdays were always celebrated with her world renowned, personally decorated, Nutmeg Feather Cake. There was no doubt that Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. Ginny truly cherished her time spent with her family and friends. All will miss her greatly.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill, daughter Deanna Ward, son William IV and his wife Tammy, son Michael and his wife Laurie, grandchildren, Joshua Ward and wife Lynn, Joseph Lunt and partner Sarah LeRoyer, Darren Ward and fiancée Amanda Hazelton, Jessica Villacci and partner Kevin Kent, great grandchildren Avery Ward and Rileigh Villacci and her sister Joan Vining and husband Don.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Mercy Oncology, all the wonderful caregivers at Hospice of Southern Maine and the compassionate staff at Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth.
A private graveside service is planned for the Spring with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
