John T. Dillon

Bridgton – John T. Dillon of Freeport, Maine died Monday, March 7, 2016 at his family home on Moose Pond in Bridgton with his daughters, parents, brothers and sisters by his side. He was born in Buffalo, NY on June 9, 1961 to James M. and Susan (Ray) Dillon.

John grew up in Buffalo where he attended The Park School. He enjoyed summers as a boy at Camp Winona in Bridgton, Maine. In 1977, his family moved to Providence, R.I. where he subsequently graduated from The Wheeler School. After two years at the University of Vermont, he transferred to Skidmore College where he studied photography, graduating in 1983.

He worked for over 25 years as a professional photographer, first with Macomber Inc. of Portland, Maine and most recently with Johnny’s Selected Seeds of Winslow, Maine.

John loved the outdoors – hiking, paddling, cycling and grouse hunting. He enjoyed activities through the Maine Outdoor Adventure Club from which he developed many lasting friendships. He was a faithful communicant of St. Jude Catholic Church in Freeport. Most importantly to him, John was a loving father to his two daughters. He was a loyal brother to his six siblings and a caring son. His family and friends will miss his kindness and his quiet, observant and loving nature.

He was predeceased by his younger brother, Edward Vincent (Teddy) Dillon. John leaves his daughters Erin E. Dillon of Portland, ME and Brina M. Dillon of Boston, MA; his parents James and Susan Dillon of Naples, FL; his siblings Katharine Hufstader (Peter) of Avon, CT, Timothy Dillon (Dawn) of Westford, MA, Brian Dillon (Lucy) of Medway, MA, James Dillon Jr. (Patricia) of Hopkinton, RI, Anne Haynes of E. Providence, RI and Molly Brabham (Tim) of Round Rock, TX. He also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

John’s family will welcome all visitors on Friday, March 11, 2016 between 4 PM and 8 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude Catholic Church in Freeport on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at

11 AM. John will be buried this spring in Bridgton, Maine.
