Sandra Rose (Sam) Anderson, age 63, passed away July 18, 2022 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, ending her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Oct. 10,1958 to Douglas G. and Pauline M. (Thaler) Anderson in Puyallup, WA. She attended Roger's Senior High School, graduating on June 8, 1977.
Sam was a bank teller and a bartender before landing a position at Fort Lewis. In 1987, she moved to Yakima, helping to develop the Package Beverage Store. In 1989, she moved to the Yakima Firing Center, in retail. She worked her way up from Sales Associate to Supervisor and then was Manager for many years. After a step back to Supervisor, its was her intention to stay there forever. She considered serving HER Troops, her greatest honor and joy. She worked for AAFES Exchange for 32 years and won many awards of recognition for her work.
She was a very active person. Playing baseball, team bowling, camping, fishing and traveling were high on her list. She had a large collection of tigers, was an Avid Seahawks fan, followed the Mariners and car racing. In these later years, her Bunko group of friends, were a great source of entertainment and support.
Sandra was preceded in death, by her husband, Tony (2003), both her parents and brother-in-law, Dave (2019). She is survived by her siblings, Nancy Borneman (Loren) of Tacoma, WA, Ned Anderson (Debbie) of Tacoma, WA, Penny Miller of Puyallup, WA and Heidi McElderry (Rocky) of Kettle Falls, WA. Many nieces and nephews, including Greats and a Great Great. An Aunt and several Cousins.
There will be no Funeral Service at this time, however, a Family and Friends Gathering will be held August 20, 2022 at Lynn Mitzel's home, 2550 E. Selah Road, Yakima, WA 98901. Please join us for a Potluck at 1pm.
Sam's family would like to express their thanks to all her Yakima Area friends who have become her family over the years. Her life was richer because of you.
