Larry was born to Leo Meadgen Cecil and Edith Fern (Root) on Nov. 11, 1949 in Yakima, WA. He lived and went to school in Yakima until 1963 when the family moved to Zillah.
Larry married Julie Ann Olivas in 1970 and they made a home in Yakima until moving to Goldendale in 1973, and they raised their family there. He worked at the Martin Marietta aluminum plant where he became an electrician. They moved to Vancouver, WA in 1988 where he worked at the Vanalco aluminum plant until getting a job with the State of WA DOT and worked until his retirement in 2013.
Larry enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren growing up and attending as many ball games and events as possible. He was an avid Seattle Mariners and Seahawks fan. He also enjoyed donating his time and talents to Neimiahs Servants. He attended Glenwood Community Church and was involved in the Men’s Bible Study group.
Larry was preceded in death by brothers Ken and Ron, father Leo and grandson Maedgen.
Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Julie of Vancouver; son Gene (Heidi) Cecil of Battle Ground, WA and daughter Angela Brooks of Vancouver; mother Edith and sister Janice Kroll, both of Yakima; grandchildren Ansel, Ellie, Libby, Eaton, Wren, Emelynn and Olin of Battle Ground and Lachlan and Titan of Vancouver.
A Funeral Service will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Rainier Memorial Center (2807 Terrace Heights Drive). There will also be a memorial service at Glenwood Community Church in Vancouver, WA on February 21st at 3:00 p.m. To share a memory of Larry, visit www.keithandkeith.com.
