June Ege went to be with her Lord on February 11, 2016 in Yakima, Washington. June was born on November 11, 1913 to Golda and Maude (Davis) Bower in St. Derion, Nebraska. She was one of 11 brothers and sisters. Delbert, Hazel, Lavere, Levert, Lillian, Lossie, Loyal, Mary, May, TD (Bowers) preceded her in death.
June married Edwin Joseph Ege on April 22, 1930 in Sidney, Nebraska. On May 12th 1931 June gave birth to a son Norris A. Ege. Shortly before the onset of WWII the family moved west settling in Cowiche. June believed in the value hard work, working in the local fruit packing industry until her 79th birthday. June worked for many of the packing plants in the upper valley.
June’s kitchen was the focal point of her home. The mouthwatering aroma of home cooking struck you the moment you entered. When the great grandchildren arrived almost always the first words out of June’s mouth would be “are grandma’s babies hungry?” Her fried chicken from the old black iron skillet was a treat to behold.
June was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Edwin J. Ege and her son Norris A. Ege.
June is survived by granddaughter Robin (Shane) Sedgwick of Yakima and grandson Dave (Deanna) Ege of Raymond. Five great grandchildren David, Nathan and Tucker Sedgwick of Yakima, Drew Ege of Selah and Katrina Ege of Raymond.
A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima, WA.
