Joyce was born Dec. 10, 1931 in Tuscumbia, MO. The daughter of Viola (Edwards) and Ora Wyrick. A child of the great depression and the great migration, she developed her homemaking skills caring for her siblings while her parents followed work.
She eventually settled in Yakima in 1961 where she devoted her life to raising her children and being a bright spot in the life of everyone who knew her. In addition to being a great cook, her talents included making all forms of life thrive around her including plants, pets and people.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Freeman Dale Wyrick of Yakima.
She is survived by sisters, Ella Ray of Camdenton, MO and Janice Parrish of Lake Ozark, MO; her sons Roger Phillips of Yakima, Kelly Martin of Yakima, Tim (Marla) Martin of Auburn, WA; daughter, Christy (Bill) Hughes of Yakima; grandchildren, Mike and Paul Sexton, Kimberly Gentry, Farrah Phillips, Chrissy Phillips, Katie and Keith Martin; great grandchildren Ali, Skylar, Gunner and Mia.
Visitation will be held 4pm-8pm on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2010 also at the funeral home.
