Joe was born July 4, 1915 in Hibbing, Minnesota to John and Della (Martin) Wauzynski. On February 7, 1948, he married the love of his life, Mary Margaret Steele, in Hibbing.
Joe proudly served in the US Army, Jan. 1942 to Oct. 1945 in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He worked for Wagner Chevrolet, Sunfair Chevrolet and the City of Yakima where he retired in 1994. He was a devoted member of St. Paul Cathedral Church; he loved to travel to Minnesota to visit family and friends and was always ready with screwball advice for his grandchildren. Joe was a truly kind man with a ready smile and sunny outlook on life. His humor and teasing spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his brother Leonard Wauzynski of Hibbing, Minnesota, sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas and Linda Wauzynski of Centralia Washington, Terrance and Debrah Wauzynski, Timmothy and Sarah Wauzynski and Tracy and Sheila Wauzynski of Yakima; also grandchildren, Nathan (and Kathy) Wauzynski, Diana Wauzynski, Rochelle Anthony, Danielle Bernier, Anthony Wauzynski, Derek Wauzynski, Stella Wauzynski and Olivia Wauzynski, and eight great-grand children.
The family would like to thank Joe’s “Better Bones and Balance” friends from the Yakima Athletic Club and the caring and patient staff of Good Samaritan for all they did for him.
