Johnnie Derril Glidewell, 41, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2010 at his home in Selah, WA after a hard fought battle with leukemia.
He was born in Yakima, WA. on November 27, 1968 to Johnnie Burl and Shirley (Brummett) Glidewell. Johnnie was employed for many years at Mt. Hood Beverage and more recently before his illness he worked for Central Premix and Washington State Department of Transportation. His first job was at Yakima Pallet and Bin. His passion was working on and restoring Volkswagens. He loved camping, his cars and hanging out with friends.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie B. Glidewell in 2003 and his grandparents. He loved his father very much.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Glidewell of Yakima, WA; his mother, Shirley Glidewell of Gleed, WA; children, Tasha Glidewell of Vancouver, WA, Tyson Glidewell and Tyland Glidewell both of Gleed; his siblings, Jim Brummett of Cochise, AZ, LeeAnn (Robert) Covely of Yakima, WA, David (Debbi) Glidewell of Enumclaw, WA. and Rev. Jeffrey (Heather) Jones of Biwabik, MN. He also leaves behind his yellow Labrador, “Mandy”.
The family wishes to thank his special lifetime friend, Theresa Karel Terry for all the daily love, hope and inspiration she gave him during his battle and as well as the staff at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital 2 East.
Visitation will be from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13th and Sunday, March 14th at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glidewell family in care of Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
We are all very proud of how he handled his illness and “fought the good fight” to the end. We will miss him. “FIGHT the FIGHT”
