Dwain H. Dunn (Dewey), 70, Yakima, died at his home on Sunday, June 27, 2010. He was born in Eminence, Missouri on February 1, 1940 to Wesley and Elzada (Weaver) Dunn. During his childhood, the family traveled between Missouri, Colorado and Washington. Dwain graduated from Davis High School in 1958, excelling at basketball. Dwain married Kathy Hauff in 1960 and together they raised two sons, Bruce and Greg. Dwain earned his civil engineering degree and worked his entire career as an engineer with the Washington State Department of Transportation District 5, retiring in 2003.
Dwain was active in all his son’s baseball activities from T-Ball to Legion and the Pros. He also played catcher for many years of softball and fast pitch and Larson Park.
Dwain was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Laverne and Karen, and his daughter-in-law, Debbie.
He is survived by two his two sons, Bruce Dunn and Greg Dunn; two granddaughters, Dani and Taylor all of Yakima and one grandson, Michael of Macon, GA, two sisters, Loese (Bill) Ford and Linda (Rick) Kincannon both of Yakima.
Dwain’s greatest joys in life were trips to Reno and Vegas, playing golf and time spent with his sons and grandchildren. He is loved much and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Star Lodge in care of Keith & Keith Funeral Home. Keith & Keith Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
