He attended school in Sunnyside and graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1968 where he was senior class president. His college years were spent at Yakima Valley Community College and Central Washington in Ellensburg. He met his wife, Susan Freepons, at Central. They married soon after graduating in 1973. Dave graduated in Industrial Arts Education.
Woodworking has been his occupation for many years. He worked in construction with most of his work done as a cabinet maker. Dave worked in cabinet shops in Kennewick, The Dalles and Yakima. For around 30 years he worked at his own business, Old World Cabinets and Furniture.
Dave loved to spend time outdoors in the hills, mountains, at the river or at the ocean. His favorite activities were hunting, fishing, camping, jeeping, traveling, vegetable gardening and reading. He especially cherished and enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.
Dave was a member of the Selah United Methodist church and was active in the Men’s group and various other committees.
He earned his eagle scout rank while in high school and helped with the local scout groups when his sons were young.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife, Susan, of Selah; sons, Josh, of Lodi, CA and Seth of Seattle and Gleed; sisters, Barbara Boone of Yakima and Mary Ann Magula and her husband, Richard, of Pasco. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the North Star Lodge staff and volunteers for their care and support.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be Sunday, March 4th 2018 at the Selah United Methodist Church with a luncheon at 12:00 pm followed by the memorial service at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Selah United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
