Sean Somerville passed away Tuesday, July 9th, 2024. Although he left too soon, Sean’s life was abundantly filled with humor and kindness that he shared with everyone who knew him. Sean's warmth, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by all.
Sean was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He was a graduate of Worthington Kilbourne High School and continued his education at Columbus State University. He enjoyed his career as a bartender which allowed him to connect with many people in the community.
For 30 years, Sean was a dedicated and loved figure in the Columbus comedy scene. He was well-known as the MC for the Surly Girl Saloon Open Mic and the Barrel on High comedy show. His sense of humor not only entertained but also brought out the best in others, helping fellow comedians find their own funny. He was known for his supportive nature and honest feedback, which were valued and respected in the comedy community.
Sean was a loving father to his sons, Wyatt and Ronan. He cared deeply for all his pets over the years, including Caprice, Violet, Sparkle, Panther, Smokey, Ax, Smash, Yellow Dog, Mr. X, and his sweet cat Anna-Mae.
Sean is survived by his sons Wyatt Somerville and Ronan Somerville, his brother Kevin Somerville, his step-mom Mary Cay (Nagle) Somerville, his uncle James Somerville, and the mother of his children Ellen Patrie. He was preceded in death by his father Michael Somerville, his mother Carolyn (Sowry) Somerville, his maternal grandparents Ivan Sowry and Lucille (Westfall) Sowry, and his paternal grandparents Norman Somerville and Mary (Wiltberger) Somerville.
