Nancy Denise (Crane) Hartman, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, in Worthington, OH, at the age of 83. Born on March 2, 1941, in East Chicago, IN, Nancy was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Lorraine M. (Grigsby) Crane. In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Paul Hartman, who passed away in 2007.
A proud graduate of Hammond Tech High School, Nancy went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Management from Antioch University. She dedicated her career to the medical field as a Radiology Technologist, specializing in X-Ray, MRI, and CT scans.
Nancy was deeply committed to her community, serving as a dedicated Girl Scout Leader, and PTA President at Lincoln Elementary School in Hammond, IN. Her spirit of service extended to her family, friends, and everyone around her. Whether nearby or miles away, Nancy was always there to lend a helping hand.
Nancy was a warm and loving mother to Kelly Newman (Keith), David Eric Hartman, Jill Wright (C. Philip), and Wendy Allen (M. Brady Jones), and a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren: John Otterbein, Erich Otterbein (Erin), Kelsey Cline (Tim), Nick Wright, Karah Finan (CJ), Cole Wright, Luke Wright, Brady Allen, Cooper Allen, Regan Jones, Riley Jones, and Carter Jones; and three great-grandchildren: Jack and Leo Cline, and Alex Otterbein. Her legacy lives on in them, as well as in her siblings: Thomas Crane and Lawrence Crane, and the memories of her late siblings Patricia Grutzius, Gerald Crane, and Susan Bartges. She also leaves behind her cherished pets: dogs Oscar, Baxter, Rocky, and Max, and her cat, SamTigger.
Nancy's warmth and compassion will be sorely missed. She had a zest for life, relishing simple pleasures like listening to NPR, and reading her favorite books. Her family remembers her infectious smile and delightful laugh, which could light up any room.
Nancy was an avid political activist and had a deep passion for community involvement. Her unwavering love and commitment to her family were evident in everything she did; she would drop everything to support her loved ones in any way possible.
A visitation for Nancy will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085, followed by a funeral service at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Cozy Cat Cottage or The Columbus Humane Animal Protection Center.
