He was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Grant and Rosemary Smith. He graduated from Mansfield Sr., High School in 1968 and attended OSU. He had a stellar career in sales and retired from Staples in 2014 after helping to establish the contract end of the business in the Columbus area.
Grant was a staunch sports fan and throughout his life he played baseball, softball, bowling, but his favorite was golf. He made many friends playing the game and planned his vacations with his wife around golf.
Grant is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barb; son, Grant II (Skip); daughter-in-law, Michelle; grandsons, Caleb and A.J. Smith; father-in-law, Robert Wagner; brother, Jim (Cathy); sister-in-law, Cindy (Jim) Scherger; brother-in-law, Mike (Debbie) Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Per Grant’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity.
