Edward A. Sarno II, age 62, of Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 13, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born in Canton, Ohio, on Feb. 23, 1960, to Edward and Ellen Sarno. He graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School, class of 1978, where he was a star pitcher on the school’s baseball team. He spent many years living in Arizona and Nevada before returning to Ohio in 2002.
He was employed as a clerk by the Franklin County Municipal Court for more than 15 years. He was in charge of the court’s mail distribution. He was named Clerk of the Year twice. He was a fan of rock and roll music and spent a lot of his free time attending concerts and music festivals. He also enjoyed sports and rooted for the New York Yankees, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians/Guardians, Columbus Clippers, Ohio State football and basketball, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. He loved old, classic sitcoms and WWE Wrestling and spending vacations at the beach.
Ed was proceeded in death by his mother Ellen in 2012. Survivors include his wife of 19 years Patti Sarno; his son and daughter-in-law Edward and Carly Sarno; his father Ed Sarno; sister and brother-in-law Vickie and Ted Guscoff; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karen and Mark Stonebraker; brothers-in-law Ken Cuprik and David Cuprik; nieces Camelia (Drew) Stanton, Mia Guscoff and Amy (Joe) Mudge; nephews Gage Guscoff, Colin Guscoff and Todd (Tori) Stonebraker; and numerous cousins. He also leaves behind many good friends and co-workers, whose friendships he cherished.
