After many years of ill-health, Dora Young-Ford passed to a place of peace and love, on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Sunrise of Gahanna. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Ross Ford; her children, Adam Chilenski and Amanda Chilenski; her granddaughter, Rozalyn Chilenski; her brothers, James Raymond and Michael Raymond; and her beloved dog, Annie. Dora was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Raymond and her grandmother, Irene Young.
Dora was a beautiful loving, caring woman who saw the good in most people. She was an artist, pet-lover, poet, teacher and friend. She was also as stubborn as a mule and feisty as a Bull-Terrier.
Dora received her BS in Education from Youngstown State University in 1985. Her last position was at the Licking County Board of Disabilities. While there she created a Parent-to-Parent Support Group and a Pet Club for the people she served. She served on the board of Central Ohio Council of Aging for many years. She organized several women’s retreats and attended the poetry group that met at Larry’s at OSU. Her favorite movie was “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
Dora will be missed and remembered by many. She will be buried in West Virginia alongside her mother and grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dora's memory may be made to Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Dr SW, Heath, Ohio 43056, https://lchspets.org/donate/.
