Betty Lou Lenz, 90, of Worthington, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023. She was born on July 2, 1933, in Reading Pennsylvania and grew up in Wyomissing. She was the daughter of the late, Llewellyn and Else (Zippe) Yarnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Lenz.
She was a graduate of Penn State University where she received her BA in journalism and later would attend Cleveland State University where she received a secondary degree in teaching. While attending Penn State, she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She had a very successful career as a Real Estate Broker in several cities within Ohio.
In her free time Lou had many interests. She was very accomplished at hand built pottery for which she made unique stoneware. She loved to garden and was an avid reader where she was a member of local book clubs. She was a lifelong animal lover which led her to volunteer at the Columbus Zoo for 14 years where she was a Docent for the Penguins. Aside from her family, the church was the most important constant in her life. She sang in the choir and later became a Stephen Minister, of which she was very proud. Lou loved to travel. Often travelling in Western Europe where she would visit family in England. Her travels also took her to many states, having lived in San Francisco, Idaho, Washington DC, and finally ending up in Ohio where she lived in a number of cities.
Lou will be greatly missed by her husband of 69 years, Peter Lenz; children, Terri (O.C.) O’Connell, Paul (Melanie) Lenz, and Scott Lenz; six grandchildren; and numerous extended family and close family friends.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
