The family grew up moving around the southeast, eventually planting roots in Marietta, Georgia. He graduated from Sprayberry High School and enrolled in Kennesaw Junior College, eventually transferring to Southern Tech where he received an associate’s degree in Architectural Engineering. He married his high school sweetheart and had two children, Yvette Lynn and Richard Joseph. His children were always his pride, joy, and greatest accomplishments in life. He was an avid fan turned collector of automobiles, specifically classics and hot rods. He owned over 20 project cars ranging from a ‘39 Packard, ‘55 Buick Roadmaster, ‘59 Edsel, ‘65 Impala, ‘71 AMX, ‘86 Monte Carlo SS, and ‘94 Mercedes.
He took interest in his family heritage and discovered that he had family tracing back to the founding of our country and the Revolutionary War which he proudly shared stories of his findings. He was known for his silly jokes and pranks, his genuine smile, and his kind soul.
He is survived by his daughter Yvette Rocca, son in law, Luis Rocca, son, Richard Stephenson, and sister, Carol Stephenson.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, Georgia. A memorial service for Richard will follow the visitation at 1:00pm in the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel.
