Mary Lou loved her family and friends fiercely. She was very social, she kept herself busy and was a go-getter. She was a lifelong dancer, and spent her early years running summer camps with the Girl Scouts. After raising her two children, she obtained her real estate license, and was very successful real estate agent. Mary Lou really enjoyed the outdoors, and when not working, you could find her at her lake house in Tennessee with a scotch and water.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lee Oppenheimer; her second husband, Walter Comerford; her brother, George Wilbur Hammer; and by her sister-in-law, Sue Oppenheimer Schwartz.
Mary Lou is lovingly survived by her daughter, Rebecca Oppenheimer; son, Bill (Jennifer) Oppenheimer; her grandchildren, Davis Oppenheimer, and Sam Oppenheimer. She is also survived by four nieces, Susan Feller, Barbara Brown, Jackie Royster, and Barbara Leigh Crochet.
A Celebration for Mary Lou will be Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 1:30pm in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 1328 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30309.
