Dot was born on August 8, 1934 in Hartwell, Georgia to Mack and Alma Kay. She married Billy Kay (no relation) and moved to Decatur, Georgia. She worked a few jobs before starting and retiring from American Security Insurance Group as a data entry operator. The couple welcomed two children into their home and raised them to be respectful and polite. Billy died in December, 1973 and Dot continued to work to support the family. Dot was blessed to meet and marry George Pritchett in June of 1980 and she gained another daughter. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle and giving mother who encouraged them in everything they set out to do.
Dot was accomplished at typing one-handed while speaking as a true, slow, Southern lady whose famous phrase, “bless your heart” actually meant that. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock and faithfully attended Community Bible Study to continue to learn the word of God. Her favorite activity was volunteering to help the children at Community Bible Study.
Visitation will be held at Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock, Georgia on Friday, March 4th during the hours of 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Additional visitation will be Saturday, March 5th at First Baptist Church of Woodstock at 10:00am with the service scheduled for 11:00am. Pastor Jim Law will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dot's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. The family would like to thank all who prayed, visited and sent cards.
