David Kenneth “Straight Shooter” Straight of Alpharetta, GA - The greatest father, grandfather and friend, after 69 years of an amazing, fun filled life went to heaven on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. He was welcomed by his predeceased father and mother, Earl and Edythe Straight and brothers, Thomas & Douglas Straight. He will best be remembered for his perverse sense of humor and all the hearts he touched along his journey. His motto was “Carpe Diem” and seized each and every day!
David honorably served our great country from 1962 – 1965 in the US Naval Air “Tailhook Squadron”, including Vietnam. He was the proud owner of Eagle’s Nest Homes in Canton, GA for 28 years. He was an avid racquetball player and enjoyed saltwater fishing, playing Texas Hold ‘em at the local VFW and in Las Vegas and reminiscing with his one of his best friends every Tuesday night.
His greatest loves were his golden retriever, Savanna, his family, many friends, our country and “Lance” peanut butter crackers.
David is survived by his daughter and her husband, Jill and David Wright of Holly Springs, GA and their children, Lauren Cato, Aidan Cato and Andrew Wright; his former wife, Karen Packard; his cousin, Barbara Vellan; his sister-in-law, Kyoko Straight; his nieces, Terry Snow, Karen Locey, Lisa Dobberstein, and Kim Straight; his nephew, Kerry Straight and many, many wonderful friends.
