Regina Porter was born on September 27, 1955 to William and Beatrice Porter at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, where they resided in Fort Green Houses. William and Beatrice soon migrated to Queens Village, NY and raised Regina “Gina” along with her 13 other siblings in the fear and admiration for the Lord Jesus Christ.
In 1973, Regina graduated from John Bowne High School and began her professional career as an Administrative Professional. Later Regina met Ezra Joseph and her union with Ezra Joseph resulted in the birth of Regina’s two sons, Antoine and Deshawn Joseph.
As an Administrative Professional, Regina served the City of New York in both the Corrections and Probation & Parole Departments. In addition to working as a Administrative Professional for over 8 years, she later provided childcare for working mothers in her Long Island City neighborhood.
Regina or “Miss Regina”, as she was often called by the members of her Community was well known for her smile and kind, but truthful words. A woman of strong faith, Regina loved the Lord Jesus Christ and often attended services with her family at Center of Hope International Church. Despite her strong faith and convictions, Regina was not committed to judging people. She welcomed all with open arms.
Regina departed this life on February 19, 2016, after her courageous battle with Essential Hypertension, End Stage Renal disease and as of late Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD). Regina had begun Hemodialysis in 2007, which often left her feeling weak and tired. Yet Regina still managed to smile and speak kind and uplifting words to all who had the pleasure of being in her presence.
Regina Porter was preceded in death by her mother Beatrice Porter.
