Regina Elizabeth Davis, also known as “Gina”, 59, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York due to complications from pneumonia and lung cancer. She was born on April 21, 1955 in the Bronx, New York to Thomas Davis and Alicia Thompson. She lived in Queensbridge Housing Complex from 1988 until her home going.
Gina graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, NYC in 1973. After high school, she attended LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, NewYork where she received an Associate of Arts degree in Human Services. In 2004, she became sole proprietor of Davis Enterprises as a tax preparation and bookkeeping professional.
Gina’s enormous compassion and love of children drove her to working with autistic youth in after-school programs, caring for children in her home, and working with challenged adults. She did all of this while also caring for her mother until her passing in June of 2013. Gina’s dedication to community service and helping others was unwavering.
Gina gave birth to her only child, Kuwan Nelson, on August 26, 1979. He is her greatest gift and she loved and supported him unconditionally.
She leaves behind her son Kuwan, Kuwan’s fiancé Jeriah Coleman, Kuwan’s father Fred Nelson, father Thomas Davis, Sr. and mom Barbara Davis, sister Deana Jones, brothers Tommy II,Kevin, Tony, and Furman, brother-in–law William Jones, nieces Dawn and Ayanna Davis-Smalls, nephew Malcolm Smalls Friend Denise McCalister, her God children Steven, Antonyce, Tatiana, Antonio, Ahmir, Damani and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
The funeral service will be held at Thomas M. Quinn & Sons funeral home located at 35-20 Broadway, Long Island City, New York, 11106 at 11:30am on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Cremation will immediately follow the funeral.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives at the Repast which will be at 40-14 Vernon Blvd. Apt 6E, LIC, NY 11101 immediately following the cremation. Flowers can be sent to the Thomas M. Quinn & Sons funeral home in Regina’s name.
