Lee Vergis Petty Jr.

Lee V. Petty (Primo) was born in Mississippi, Mound Bayou February 6, 1957 to the late Lee V. Petty Sr. and the Late Ruth R. Petty. Lee was the middle child of this union. Lee transitioned from this life on May 17, 2014 at the Brooklyn VA Hospital, Brooklyn, NY.

Lee grew up in Queens, NY. Lee attended Long Island City High School. He graduated in 1974 and in 1975 he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Security Specialist.

In 1973 Lee met Deena Shavuo-Petty and joined in holy matrimony in 1975 and was blessed with two beautiful children.

Lee was affectionately known as Primo to many of his friends. Lee was a person who loved to laugh. He laughed at what was not so funny to others but it was funny to him. He was a charming and intelligent man who could converse with anyone on any given topic at any time. He focused on providing for his family and he loved to cook. To know Lee was to love him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Deena Shavuo-Petty. Two daughters: Paschell Petty of Long Island City, NY and Nia King of Brooklyn, NY. Four sons: Rasheen Petty of Long Island City, NY; Leqwan Petty and Lavar Petty of Atlanta, GA and Tyler King of Brooklyn, NY. Siblings: Annie Petty- Richardson of Long Island City, NY and Larry Petty of Milwaukee, WI. Two Granddaughters: Brianna Mc Michael; Sharya Petty; One Grandson: Brian Mc Michael, Jr. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In 2005 Diane Evans, her daughter Ruth and two sons Sirika, Zoumana entered into Lee’s life in a loving way. This friendship remained as Diane cared for Lee compassionately throughout his illness until the time of his death.
