Rita Khin Ngwe was born in a small village near Rangoon, Burma. Her mother and father raised Rita and her 8 siblings as Christians in a Buddhist dominated country. She later went on to marry her late husband U Ba Ngwe who later converted his faith to Christianity. Rita then immigrated to the United States and graduated from Arizona State University with a Master in Education.
Rita then got her first teaching job at Woodlake Union High School. Known to the students and staff as Ms. Khin, she taught advanced math courses such as Calculus, advanced algebra, trigonometry, etc. Although she had a reputation for being a tough teacher, she really enjoyed challenging her students to fulfill their highest potential and found her passion for the next 31 years (1969-2000), until she retired at the young age of 76. After retirement, she and her former colleague(s) got to travel around the world. One of the real true joys of her life was being approached by her many former students who thanked her for being their teacher. She lived a full and blessed life.
Rita was also a church member at Woodlake Presbyterian Church for many years. Her faith in God never wavered all the way to the very end. She is survived and dearly remembered by her three sons Donald, David, and Paul.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Presbyterian Church 600 West Naranjo Boulevard, Woodlake, California on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 9:00 am followed by Interment at Woodlake Public Cemetery.
