Survived by devoted wife, Beverly, son James (Athena), daughter Susan, granddaughters Elizabeth and Grace Henrich, brother James (Carol). Preceded in death by father, Donald, mother, Veryl, and brother Paul.
Charles will always be the boy from Spring Valley who grew up to be an international businessman par excellence. From an early age he was guided by faith in God, devotion to country, dedication to family, and lots of hard work. He based his life on honesty, truth, and an unswerving commitment to rationality and logic. Educated at his beloved St. Olaf College, where he met his wife of 70 years, Beverly, Charles served in the Minnesota National Guard followed by duty in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps. Afterward, he made a successful career of 39 years at 3M where he was a steady hand, calming influence, and educator, earning the respect of his co-workers. He was an exemplar of how to be a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. Charles was a humble and considerate man, whose humility led him to be mindful of others and to always help them, no matter how busy he was.
Visitation will be Monday, November 21, 10 am, at Grace Lutheran Church, 1730 Old Hudson Road, St Paul, MN 55106, (651) 774-9617, followed by a memorial service at 11 am.
