Betty was born on December 9, 1934 in Parkers Prairie, MN. Betty grew up in a Christian home on their family farm. She developed an amazing work ethic and character through many household and farm chores. She enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing with her older brothers.
Betty graduated as Valedictorian from Parkers Prairie High School in 1953, then attended Concordia College in St. Paul where she received her Associates of Arts degree in 1955. Before starting a family of her own, she taught Kindergarten and 3rd grade for many years. After her children were grown, Betty started a new career at 3M as an Administrative Assistant where she retired after 23 years. She was highly respected and a friend to many.
Betty's top priority was her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty loved sleepovers with the grandkids, cheering on all Minnesota sports, and was a fixture at her grandkids sports and activities. She loved nature, gardening, and outdoor activities, including walks and airshows. She had a deep respect for our military and veterans, as well as a passion for service. After her retirement, Betty volunteered for 10 years at Woodwinds Hospital. Betty was a loyal warrior of God. She was a regular at church and Bible study. Even in her final days, her hope was that her family would all know God. Knowing she was going to Heaven brought Betty and her family much comfort.
She is survived by her children David, Daniel, Robyn (Mark) Bannon; grandchildren, Rachel, Amber, Evan, Jesse, Matt, Mike, Joe, John and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Ella Ahlf, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin & Nina Ahlf and Wally & Kathryn Ahlf.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for Betty in her final days at United Hospital and Our Lady of Peace Hospice.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 12:00 pm, Wulff Funeral Home in Woodbury (2195 Woodlane Drive) with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Please consider donations in Betty’s name to Our Lady of Peace Hospice (ourladyofpeacemn.org/donate/).
It was Betty's wish to share one of her favorite bible verses:
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11:25-26
