He is survived by his beloved wife Dora (nee Funk), daughter Stacey (Colin Forbes), and son Sheldon. He is also survived by his sister Elaine Rose (Earl Carroll) and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Valentine and Edith Wolfe and brother Lorne.
Bob was born in Grenfell on September 5, 1944 and spent part of his early childhood in the Edgewood District before moving to a farm at Summerberry, where he attended a three-room school house until grade eleven. The family then moved to Grenfell where he finished high school.
Bob stayed in the Grenfell area and worked a variety of jobs. He drove truck and ran Cats for his uncles John Wolfe and Willie Wolfe and for Jake Ulmer. In 1973, Bob and his brother Lorne bought the dairy farm North of Grenfell from Don and Wendy Urschel. After the dairy was sold in 1993, there were beef cattle and some grain farming to look after. Bob also spent a couple winters helping Keith Biesenthal maintain the ice in the curling rink before working for various local farmers. Eventually, Lorne sold his part of the farm to Sheldon, and Bob worked with his son during his retirement years.
During his retirement, Bob also went for regular walks with the farm dog, mowed the grass, helped with the gardening, and helped Sheldon with some of the chores until his memory started to fail.
A fan of many sports, Bob curled in high school and later in Grenfell with the 49ers and mixed league. He also enjoyed attending hockey games and rodeos. He team roped for many years with Jack Hextall, Jack Bender, Donna (Bender) Turner, and others. Bob was an avid hunter for many years, always with his best friend Walter Zorn. He shared his love of hunting with others as a member of the Grenfell Wildlife Federation and as a hunter safety instructor for many years.
His Alzheimer’s forced him to slow down, and Dora cared for him at home until the end of March in 2022. At that time, he moved into the Broadview Centennial Lodge.
The family invited everyone to gather in the Grenfell Curling Rink to share memories of Bob on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
The family asks donations in lieu of flowers be made in memoriam to the Broadview Centennial Lodge Activity Fund, Box 670, Broadview, SK S0G 0K0 or the Grenfell Curling Club, Box 951, Grenfell, SK S0G 2B0.
