After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Karl was called to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday December 17, 2011 at the age of 87 in the Lakeside Nursing Home, Wolseley, SK. Karl was born on February 27, 1924 at Ellisboro, SK. Karl was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Elizabeth Leir, his brothers, Alfred , Victor and Edward and sister Ida, brothers-in-law; Louis Penno and Ron Wilson and his first wife Carolyn (Kreuger) Leir. Karl leaves to forever cherish his memory his loving wife of almost eleven years Rose Anne and her children; Chrystal (Dennis); Julia (Gaven); Jonathan (Chrystal) and his special grandchildren: Mitch, Michael, Allyssa, Chad, Andrew, Maggie, Jaxson and Spencer. Karl is survived by his siblings; Helen Wilson, Herb (Adaline), Myrna (Keith) Shipley and Don (Marlene) Leir sisters-in-law, Lil Leir, Elsie Leir and Joyce Leir an uncle, Albert Goebel; Rose Anne’s family: Vicki (Jerry) Velestuk and Philip (Carol) Velestuk, Alex (Debbie) Velestuk. Karl also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great friends. Karl was a kind gentle, compassionate man and was liked by all who knew him. Karl did many things in his life, played ball for the Grenfell Gems, farmed, drove taxi cab, builder and owned businesses, his passion was a friendly game of cribbage with the boys, coffee with friends, watching the Blue Jays on TV and local ball and hockey games. Karl will be greatly missed. The funeral service will be held in the Peace Lutheran Church, Grenfell, SK., on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gerald Bruce Andersen officiating. Cremation with interment in Grenfell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 520, Grenfell, SK.
