Barry was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ronald and Dorothy Schniepp. As a boy, he participated in Boy Scouts of America. He was one of a select few scouts from his troop who visited Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Barry was proud of this God and Country badge.
He attended Upper Darby High School in Drexel Hill, PA and graduated from Newberry College in Newberry, SC.
Barry was in the Army Reserves for many years.
Barry was employed by Boeing and then Westinghouse Electric Corp, in PA.
Barry was on the site selection team that lead to the relocation of Westinghouse Electric Corp. to Orlando, FL. He retired from Westinghouse as the Global Procurement Manager for Power Generation in 1997.
Barry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marcia Pekelney Schniepp, his daughter, Tara Schniepp Pinard of Sanford, FL, and his son, Dean Paxson Schniepp with wife Angela Mazelin Schniepp of Oviedo, FL. He had six grandchildren: Ashleigh, Katelyn, Jacob, Sydney, Madison and Adam. He had two great grandsons: Brantley and Waylon. He is also survived by his younger sister, Charlene Schniepp Brown with husband, James Brown, of West Chester, PA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Erich Dietz Schniepp; his sister, Dottie Stose; and his former wife, Anita Dietz Nichols, mother of his children.
Barry was enthusiastic about life. He loved being on the water. While in Pennsylvania, he had a houseboat named Super Suds. In Florida, the family created memories boating, fishing and skiing on local lates. Later he enjoyed taking cruises with his family. He enjoyed watching birds and playing with his beloved dogs. No one could rival his culinary skills, constantly feeding everyone. He and his wife, Marcia, were avid travelers during his retirement. He kept himself busy with a variety of volunteer activities. He volunteered at the VA in Baldwin Park leading their AA program for many years. He was a master gardener at the Polasek Museum in Winter Park. He completed the Seminole County Citizens Police Academy and spent time participating in the Citizens on Patrol program. Most recently, he volunteered weekly for Meals on Wheels.
A celebration of his life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, FL. 32792.
