Santina Sancricca Turner, a long-time resident of Winter Haven, died early Monday, November 29, 2021 at the age of 94 in her residence at The Gardens of Port St. Lucie due to complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Santina, affectionately known as Tina, was born December 23, 1926 in Italy where she was raised with her brother and 3 sisters. She attended trade school and became a stenographer before meeting her husband, Clyde Turner, and immigrating to the United States when Clyde returned from European deployment after World War II. After raising her daughter, Judie, and son, J.C., Santina moved with Clyde to Winter Haven where she worked for Scotty’s for 10+ years and then spent 8 years at Amy’s Card Shop. She volunteered at Winter Haven Hospital and at Saint Matthew’s Thrift Shop. Always, Santina was devoted to her faith and to her family.
Santina’s family will receive her friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 645 West Central Avenue, Winter Haven. Funeral Mass for Santina begins at 9:00 am Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 1991 Overlook Drive, Winter Haven. Santina will then be taken to Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida to be buried with her husband.
Santina is survived by her great-grandchildren – Jaxson Turner, Aeryn Ryder, and Austin Ryder; by her grandsons – Josh Turner, Jared Turner, Jimmy Turner, Jesse Turner, and Chris Ryder; by her daughter, Judie Keefer; and by her sister, Iole Ugazio. The memory of her kindness, generosity, and strength will be cherished by many more.
