Robert John Zack, of Winter Garden, passed peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 12, 2019. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Zack, brother Edward A. Zack, daughters Penny Zack and Cindy Fowler, stepsons Jeffrey Stapleton, Michael Stapleton, Neff Guardia, and Jeff Guardia, stepdaughter Kristal Morales, and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Richard J. Zack.
Bob, as he was usually known to friends and family, was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on September 18, 1942, son of Edward L. Zack and Mary (Rager) Zack. After graduating from Ridgefield Memorial High School, he served a short term with the United States Navy. He then spent the majority of his career as the owner of Zack Insurance Agency in Ridgefield, NJ. He moved to and raised his children in Wood-Ridge, NJ. He later moved to Sunrise, FL and Fort Lauderdale, before settling in Winter Garden.
He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and golf, and often coached his children’s soccer, baseball, or softball teams. He enjoyed classic and antique cars, having owned a few at various points. Bob was an avid bowler throughout his life, and later become a competitive pool player, often recounting stories of his various matches and leagues.
Bob loved to make people laugh and was always quick with a joke. He was warm and welcoming to everyone he met, and always made sure to greet people by name. He was always ready and willing to help out a friend or family member, and most everyone knew what a kind and loving man he was.
A viewing and celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 1pm at Baldwin-Fairchild, Winter Garden Funeral Home, 428 E Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.
