Abe was born on December 21, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he spent his formative years. He joined the Navy in 1959 and was stationed in Key West on board the submarine USS Quillback (SS 424) and received the National Defense Service Medal for his participation in the Cuban Missile Crisis out of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He attended Electrical Engineering School at University of Miami, and for 26 years worked for Florida Power and Light as an engineer in power generation. The next 18 years he worked in consulting and contracting in the power industry, primarily supporting the troops in Iraq. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and love for the military.
But more than anything, Abe was a devoted father. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges his family and friends faced.
In his free time, Abe enjoyed being part of the US Submarine Veteran Group, playing bridge, and lunches with his friends the “ROMEOs”, and was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
Abe is survived, by his children, Mary Kathleen Abraham and Craig Abraham, his grandchildren, Richard Javier Garcia, Bailey Abraham, Chloe Abraham, and Katie Abraham, along with his sister Pam Abraham. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
