Ondrea (Andrea) Isabel Blamoville was born on September 19, 1942 at the Bronx hospital located in the Bronx, New York. She departed this life on June 20, 2024.
Ondrea was the 4th child of Basil Blamoville, Sr and Olga Herbert Blamoville. Both parents preceded her in death, as did her sisters, Latrice Blamoville and Olga Blamoville. She leaves behind one (1) sister Huldah Blamoville, two (2) brothers Arthur Blamoville and Basil Blamoville, Jr., and three (3) children: Khadijah Boyd (husband Tony), Aisha Laws (husband Al, Jr.), and Musa Abdul-Malik (wife Rosa).
Ondrea, sometimes affectionately called “Andy”, was a fun-loving and compassionate soul. She was very inquisitive and interested about the lives of other people, so she was very easy to talk with and always gathered information like a news reporter. She always brought fun and cuisine to every encounter. She could tell you exactly what things were good on the menu and what leftovers were in the refrigerator. Ondrea loved life and her family. Raising her children as a single mom, she worked three jobs in order to provide for her children, exposing them to culture, art and history. Ondrea primarily worked for the Federal Government as a supervisor for Social Security benefits for over 30 years. Her children remember their mom as a fearless protector, and hugging them during difficult times while rocking on the couch listening to Stevie Wonder. Her loyalty is reflected in the fact that all of her children have been married for over 25 years, and her grandchildren loved her nurturing care and affirmation.
Ondrea loved the beauty in life. She loved classical and modern Arts: poetry, musicals, symphonies, theater and ballet. Her favorite play was the “Nutcracker”, a classic ballet that she frequently took her children to experience. Now her children have made it a tradition to take their children to the Nutcracker during the Christmas season. Ondrea would take her children to Washington, DC to expose them to museums and historical sites. As a result, all her children are wise, insightful, well rounded and have eclectic taste and interest in music, history, literature and art. Ondrea was part of a Buddhist community, and all her children are committed Christians. However, she was always curious and open to discuss faith and pray with whomever was willing.
Ondrea loved the thrill of chance! She loved bingo and slot machines, and her children loved making sure that she played responsibly.
Her children remember her as: crazy, funny, information detective, story teller, generous, and the slot machine queen.
Her siblings remember her as: strong, great friend, a phenomenal little lady, and reliable.
Her Nieces and Nephews remember her as: Aunt Andy don’t play, cool, and calm in the storm.
Her grandchildren remember her as: loving, caring, great advisor, foodie, and the bingo queen.
Ondrea leaves a legacy of four (4) grandchildren: Aliah Abdul-Malik, Trinity Laws, Divinity Laws, and Elijah Abdul-Malik; seven (7) nieces and nephews: Arthur Blamoville, Jr. (Monique), Patrice Blamoville, Eric Blamoville, Kinsasha Blamoville, Khalid Blamoville (Nadia), Claudine Allen, and Don-Claude Allen; fourteen (14) grand nieces and nephews; three (3) cousins: Lucia Bennett, Phyllis Forde, Dennis Bagot and special friend Gladys Williams. She also loved her children’s other siblings as her own: Bas’shuah and Dovid McKay, and Ibrahim, Sulaiman, Ruqayya, Yusuf, and Jamal Abdul-Malik.
Ondrea you smiled, you made us smile, and may heaven smile on you!
