Michael Ryan Fanelli was a very special man who brought so much joy to his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and all of his loving friends and family. Michael was born on May 8, 1986 in Connecticut. His early years were spent in the family home on green space where he loved to run around and play amongst the trees, grasses and big sky. Some of his greatest memories were of walking along the shell-road between the big house & little house on Lieutenant Island on Cape Cod. After two years of being the youngest, of three children Michael found his very best friend when his brother Daniel was born. Daniel & Michael would forge a path of crazy times, great times, and support each other for all of their years together. Michael, ‘Mig’ had a love for science, astronomy, physics, chemistry and food! He loved using science in his cooking and saw clearly how food is science! His latest passion was infusing olive oils with herbs using vacuum. He was the pizza master, sharing his talents with any who came by. Michael was never one to take the easy road, and whether he was shooting potatoes from a homemade cannon, creating annual fireworks displays, teaching himself how to weld or building his newest computer “rig”, he always enjoyed the process as much as the result. Michael spent many days in class at Valencia that sparked his curiosity and gave him so much enlightenment and joy. He was a constant student of life and taught himself all manner of things that often astounded the physicians who cared for him. Michael was in control of his life and his disease. He knew his was not likely to be a long life, but what he had he shared with his family and gave as much of himself as he possibly could. Mig was loving, strong, supportive and full of life & love. Despite his suffering, Michael always had a big smile for everyone. Michael’s family hopes you will consider making a donation to Epilepsy.com in the memory of Michael and the continued help & hope for people struggling with this horrible disease.
