On April 5 2021, Everette H. Fischer loving husband, father, Citrus Grower and General Manager of Winter Garden Citrus Growers Assn., passed way. Born in Gotha Florida to German families who had made their way to Florida, his love and services to both the Church and citrus agriculture flourished.
As a young boy working with his uncles, he learned the art of citrus caretaking by hand. After finishing school at Gotha Ocoee & Orlando (OHS), he moved his studies to the University of Florida (Gainesville), after which, he worked as a county assist agent helping farmers in the Ocala area. In 1962, before the “62 Freeze”, he became the Grove Caretaking Manager of Winter Garden Citrus Growers Assn. From there he became a Grower and the General Manager of the association and was an active participant, remaining on its board up to his passing.
Everette was the 3rd child of George and Ester (Wilkening) Fischer, born on October 9, 1933. Growing up in Gotha, a West Orange county community, he had plenty of aunts, uncles & cousins surrounding him in his youth. He married Joyce (King) Fischer October 13, 1956, had two children Kenneth & Bryan. Moving from Ocala to the Winter Garden/Windermere area in the 60s, he would spend the remainder of his life. His church life and activities centered around Zion Lutheran Church currently in Winter Garden. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, attending his sons’ school activities, flying his airplane, attending events with family and friends, and was a charter member of Windermere Rotary.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Joyce, sons Kenneth and Bryan, grandson Jonathan. Sister Louise (Fischer) Meador, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held 1:30pm Friday April 16, at Zion Lutheran Church 16161 Marsh Rd Winter Garden. Viewing will be the night before from 5-8pm at Baldwin Fairchild located at the corner of Plant and 3rd street in Winter Garden.
In lieu of Flowers, donations to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
