Veronica Lynn Williams passed away on November 30, 2024. Veronica was born on March 23, 1963, in Sacramento, California. Being in a career military family, she lived in many places including Japan, Florida, New Mexico, and Arkansas just to name a few.
She began her professional career with working for Roadway in billing eventually becoming Supervisor and then Operations Supervisor. However, her sweet and caring nature drove her to want to help others, especially troubled children. This path led her to Salem College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Education/Sociology. Veronica loved helping children and worked in elementary education, including the last several years becoming certified and teaching special education.
After retirement, Veronica and JoAnna moved to Leland, NC. Here Veronica enjoyed her time in the community at Compass Point. She was always a social butterfly, but here it truly came to life. She looked forward to all her get-togethers with groups like Mahjong, Reading, Hand to Foot and Cornhole.
Her kind heart created in her, a love for animals. Veronica always had a way of becoming every pet’s best friend. She loved them all, especially the ones she called her own including, Ritzi, Alexis, Molly, Kacey, JoJo, and Suzie.
Veronica leaves behind her wife, JoAnna Williams; siblings, Denise (Wayne) Cude, Monica (Presley) Allison, Phil (Becca) Brazell, Scott (April) Smith; niece Nikki (Jason) Cobb and nephew Josh (Cameron) Brazell; Aunt Rossi Ransom; brother-in-law Al (Lora) Williams, sister-in-law Donna (Mike) Odum and an adored sister-in-law Audrey Williams; nephew Michael (Carla) Odum, Niece Lauren Williams, niece Morgan (Todd) Sutton, niece Ashton (Kyle) Brown, and niece Taylor Odum; best friends and travel buddies, Becky Lockwood and Joni Rees; as well as many other loved ones and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5th at 1pm at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park, followed by a graveside service at 2pm at the gazebo.
Veronica’s family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Duke Raleigh’s Oncology Team for their care, compassion, and friendship. They became more like friends to Veronica and JoAnna, and that level of care is beyond appreciated.
