It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of a beloved soul, Sally Ann Chapple Williams, who departed this world at the age of 83. Sally’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, simplicity, dog hair and an unending appreciation for life's little pleasures. She left us on August 4th, 2023 surrounded by the warmth of her family’s embrace.
Sally’s love for all creatures, especially dogs, was a testament to her compassionate heart. Throughout her life, she welcomed dogs into her home, showering them with affection and often one too many treats. Her connection with animals mirrored the love she had for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sally's face would glow with joy as she shared stories of her visits.
Born to Dewey and Alma Chapple in Winston-Salem, her childhood was filled with many memories of the tight-knit Chapple family. Her teenage years were filled with Sundays at church and countless memories with extended family. Sally graduated from RJ Reynolds High School and later began working and raising her two daughters. She often enjoyed spending time in her yard in conversation with her neighbors.
Later in life she enjoyed being a private caregiver in Pennsylvania, Charlotte and Winston-Salem. After retiring, she spent time volunteering for the church by mailing cards to fellow church members during times of grief, happiness and celebration. Her time spent at Arbor Acres was centered around the picture window in her room where she enjoyed watching the dogs in the dog park, blooming flowers and birds gathered around her birdfeeder.
Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind: her brother, Dewey Chapple Jr. and wife Betty Ann; nieces Stephanie Austin and Katherine Tate; daughters Karen Peatross (Mark); Beth Bates (Rusty); her cherished grandchildren, Brett Peatross (Amy); Meredith Riddleberger (Zack); Evan Peatross; Katie Bates; Kellie Bates; and great grandchildren Lillian and Camden Peatross; Harper, Wilson and Baker Riddleberger along with grand-dogs Benson, Meadow, Bennie and other cherished family members and friends.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Sally’s caregivers on the 300 hall of Strickland Place at Fitzgerald at Arbor Acres. The companionship and conversations she received from them was always the highlight of her day.
The care and compassion shown not only to Sally, but to her family as well from NH Forsyth Medical Center Emergency Department will always be remembered.
May Sally find eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of blooming flowers, the sweet melodies of birdsong, and the everlasting love of her furry companions who welcomed her through the gates of Heaven. We love you, Nana.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Forsyth Humane Society, an organization held dear to Sally’s heart. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 11th, 2023 at 11:30am at Grace Lutheran Church located at 3410 Community Church Road in Pfafftown, NC with a private graveside service. Please feel free to wear floral or colorful apparel in honor of Sally.
