Beverly Anne Gallagher Plouff, 80, of Pfafftown, NC, formerly of Lincoln and Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on November 20, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert of 60 years, their three children, Robynne, Robert Jr., and Christopher Plouff, four grandchildren, William, Jaimie, Amber, and Bridget Anne Plouff, a great-grandson, Greyson Plouff, and her two long-time caregivers, Judy Searcy and Robert Brousseau.
Beverly began her long teaching career in 1972 as a library aide at Captain Hunt Elementary School in Central Falls. After gaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island, she worked at Woonsocket Jr.-Sr. High school in the Audio Visual Department. Beverly then went on to earn one of two Master’s Degrees from Rhode Island College where she also worked in the library. Her second Master’s Degree in World History brought her to teach at Warwick Veterans High School where she retired in 2004 as Department Chair. During her long career, Beverly was also Chairperson for the Coalition of Library Advocates, met with Barbara Bush at the White House as a representative for COLA, and was in the delegation that went to China for the advocation of exchange students in 1985.
Beverly loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family at “The Beach House” in Tiverton. Beverly was also an avid traveler, having been to China, Europe, the Vatican (twice) where she met Pope John Paul, 26 of the 50 states, and took several Caribbean cruises.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donation to be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or their local Catholic Charities.
