In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Squirrell (nee Smith)
Shirley passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on September 7, 2023 at the age of 79 years. She was predeceased by her parents Colin and Lillian Smith. Shirley was born on October 29, 1943, in Selkirk, a town where her warm heart and kind spirit would leave an everlasting mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Shirley's life was a testament to the power of love, strength, and unwavering joy. She was the beloved wife of Keith Squirrell of 57 years, and together they shared a lifetime of memories and built a family rooted in love. Her legacy lives on through her cherished children: Tammy (Mike), Stephen (Jennifer), and Chrissy. Shirley's role as a loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Shirley also leaves behind two dearly loved sisters, Eleanor Mae (Wayne) and Elsie, and her younger brother, Reginald as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Shirley worked for many years at the Winnipeg Clinic before moving on to Safeway where she remained for 25 years until she retired. She remained active well after her retirement. She loved to dance and go for long walks. She also loved to host her family for dinners and game nights.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday September 14, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:30 pm at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg.
