On October 3, 2011 at the Health Science Center with his wife and soul mate Debbie by his side Ron lost his courageous battle.
He was predeceased by his mother Jean Baron (Dec 21st 2009) and father-in-Law James Lewis (October 3, 2011).
Ron will be forever missed by his wife Debbie; step-children Mark (Michelle), Robert and Joshua; daughter Kathleena; step-grandchildren Ryin and Summer; father Archie; his brother Ken; sister Robyn; sister-in-law Janet (Orest), mother-in-law Christina (Charlie) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends, especially his special friend Gerry Garvey.
Ron attained his Master's degree in Social Work and pursued his career in Calgary, later returning home to Winnipeg where he worked for the Rivereast Personal Care Home in a variety of positions.
Ron had many great gifts, to mention a few his love of sports, especially hockey he played with the St. James Canadians from 1969-1974 winning five city championships in a row. He went on to play with the USHL- Calmet Country Copper Chiefs. Ron loved world history and traveled extensively, he could talk for hours about his experiences. He had an incredible thirst for knowledge even taking courses at the U of M during his illness. He also had an appreciation for a very eclectic genre of music which he enjoyed sharing with others.

A memorial service will be held at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3J 0L3.
