Marilyn was born on July 27, 1946 to Peter and Hildena Friesen. She was raised on a farm in Ridgeville, Manitoba along with her four siblings. In 1965, she married Kenneth Walters. They were married for 22 years and together they had three children.
As a young family they lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba before buying a farm in the Rosa area. They operated a dairy farm for several years before moving into Morris, Manitoba in 1984. During this time Marilyn worked at the Morris General Hospital. In 1986, Marilyn and Ken moved to Edmonton, Alberta with their two youngest children. Marilyn worked outside of the home before retiring in 2005. She then returned to Manitoba in 2009 to care for her mother; having recently settled into her home at the Red River Lodge in Morris.
Marilyn was an avid fan of country music, football, hockey games and being around her family. She loved to cook up a feast for her family and friends. She was eager to lend a hand to those who needed it. Marilyn was always proud to share with her friends the achievements and updates of her grandchildren. She leaves her family and friends with many memories of love and laughter.
She is survived by her three children Greg (Barb), Todd and Lauryn (Josée Walters); her seven grandchildren (Devin, Tyson, Danelle, Brett, Thomas, Eric and Jesse); and one great granddaughter (Maicie).
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm p.m. at the Cabane à Sucre hall in St. Pierre Jolys.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Red River Lodge and the Bruneau family for the care and attention to their mother in her final days.
