Laura was predeceased by her parents Harry and Mary Mitchell; her six brothers Lockhart, Sidney, Arnold, Elmer, Harvey, and Raymond; her two sisters Myrtle and Pearl; her children Myrtle-Anne and Ray.
Laura was born May 5, 1928 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She grew up on the family farm and eventually married Peter Yakiwchuk. They lived in Saskatoon for a few years, and then moved back to Prince Albert for several years before moving to Winnipeg to raise their four children. Laura had a variety of occupations over the years and the last eighteen years were at the University of Manitoba Book Store as the Administrative Assistant where she retired in 1993.
Laura had the best sense of humour and the most generous heart. She was a very artistic person and gifted her creations to family and many friends. Laura will always be remembered for her love of family and willingness to help others. Although we are so sad that you are no longer with us, you have left us with incredible memories that we will always cherish.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray
