It is with great sadness we announce that Janice Kathleen (Robertson) Kucheravy 79, passed away March 23/2023 surrounded by her family at the Health Science Centre.
Janice is survived by Michael and Colleen (son and daughter-in-law), Tracey and Tricia (daughters), Dylan, Caila, Erin, and Mathew (grandchildren) as well as many other extended family members.
She was proceeded by her parents John and Georgina Robertson and her brother Gerald Robertson.
Janice was born in Hamiota, Manitoba. She lived and went to school in the tight knit community of Kenton where she excelled at her studies and played competitive softball. After graduation in 1961, she moved all over Manitoba and Saskatchewan with her husband Sydney raising her family. In 1974 she put roots down in Winnipeg, Manitoba living on Leeds Avenue in Fort Richmond. She always had a pot of coffee on for anyone stopping by for a cup and a visit.
After retiring from Radiology Consulting with over 15 years of service, she spent time tending to her garden. She cultivated beautiful flower baskets, herb pots, and a vegetable garden. She could often be found on her the deck, having a Caesar and discussing the events of the day with family.
Janice was the matriarch whose passion was family, food, and her pets. All were welcome in her home, where she would lend an ear and share a meal. We will dearly miss how she brought the family together with extravagant suppers and numerous options of desserts, usually one favorite for each grandchild. Her deep love for her grandchildren was all-encompassing. She rarely missed a hockey game, gymnastic competition, football game or school event. You would always see her in the crowd cheering them on. She often carved out something special for each grandchild like making bird houses at Oak Hammock Marsh with Dylan, her love of baking with Caila and Erin, having lunch on the mini train by the zoo with Mathew, and we can’t forget her epic sleepovers. The time she spent with each of them will be forever treasured and never forgotten.
We wish to thank the staff at the Health Science Centre for their compassion and care during her time there.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Janice was a compassionate soul who loved her pets intensely and supported many animal rescue initiatives. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in her name to Before the Bridge Senior K9 Rescue.
