Mrs. Irene Jessie Paton Gibson

On December 17, 2013 Irene passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her daughter Donna (Rick) While and son Scott (Jane) Gibson; grandchildren Shawn (Kristina), Dean (Larissa), Heather, Ryan (Arielle), Justin (Catherine), great grandchildren Ashlyn, Violet, Stella and Evan, sister Bette, nieces and friends.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Don and parents George and Jessie Paton.

She was born on October 23, 1926 in Winnipeg and resided in St. Vital most of her life. She worked in the accounts department at Greater Winnipeg Gas until retiring from Manitoba Hydro.

Irene and Don built a cottage at Red Rock Lake in 1960 and enjoyed many summers there with family and friends. The cottage remains a gathering place for the family today.

Irene traveled the world and belonged to many clubs including Eastern Star, Kenora Club and the St. Vital Historical Society. Mum valued her time with family and friends, maintaining contact with them all throughout the years. She still met with her grade 1 class for lunch well into retirement.

The family sincerely thanks the compassionate staff (family) at River Park Gardens.

A celebration of Irene`s life will be held 1:00 pm on Monday, December 23 at St. Mary`s Road United Church, 613 St. Mary`s Road. Viewing is available before the service 12:00 – 1:00. Pallbearers are Bob Miles, Ken Mann and her grandsons (Shawn, Dean, Ryan, Justin)
