It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Giuseppina Iuliano (née Petracca) on October 4, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on June 10, 1931, in Amato, Italy, Giuseppina was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness and resilience touched the lives of all who knew her.
In pursuit of a brighter future, Giuseppina, her husband, and their two daughters left Amato, Italy, and immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina. After spending time in Argentina, they eventually made their final home in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Throughout her journey, Giuseppina carried the values, warmth, and strength that shaped her life.
She was passionate about growing beautiful flowers in her garden, taking winter trips to Mexico, and hosting and attending family gatherings, which brought immense joy to her life and those around her. Our grandmother’s home was always filled with laughter, delicious meals, and cherished stories from her childhood, which she loved to share with her family. Giuseppina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who taught us the importance of family, hard work, and unwavering love.
Giuseppina is survived by her beloved husband, Giuseppe Iuliano, and her loving daughters, Annette Torchia (Frank) and Cathy Gallo (Tony). Her cherished grandchildren, Tony Torchia (Sandra), Frank Gallo (Francesca) and Joe Torchia (Brenda) and her adored great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katarina, Daniel, Antonella, Talia, Natalia, and Gabriella. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews in Italy, Argentina, and Winnipeg, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Giuseppina was predeceased by her parents, Saverio and Caterina Petracca, grandson Joe Gallo and her brothers, sister, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Linden Manor, Golden Door Geriatric Centre and Poseidon Long-Term Care Home for their compassionate and dedicated care during Giuseppina's time with them. Your kindness and support brought comfort to her and all of us, and we are deeply grateful.
Her life was a testament to love, perseverance, and joy. Her spirit will continue to guide us, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren Tony Torchia, Joe Torchia and Frank Gallo, great-grandsons Matthew and Daniel Gallo and nephew Tom Masi.
A private funeral service will be held.
